Beginnings

Well, here I am:  blogging!  And (gasp) even with a picture this time!  🙂

Right after I wrote about not making unrealistic goals, a friend of mine sent me a text that included only a website and with that, I was inspired to add another -hopefully obtainable – goal to my list (even though it feels daunting).

http://www.aholyexperience.com is a blog by Ann Voskamp and beware that if you read the January 4th post, you may be inspired to add another thing to you day too.  That sounds so negative doesn’t it?  Adding another thing – maybe stress the “Adding” part instead of the “another” part….sound better?  maybe?

So, this year I plan to join with thousands of Miss Voskamp’s readers and attempt to memorize some scripture.  I have not attempted to memorize scripture or really anything else, besides maybe a little music, since I was in High School, so this is going to take a lot of intentional and focused practice.  I hope that by the end I will have memorized a little, if not all of Romans 1, 8 and 12.

This is my start –

romans project

That, my friends is a whiteboard on my kitchen wall (husband’s brilliant idea) – I plan to write the verses of the week on that board along with the dinner menus, or store needs.  I am in the kitchen a lot during the day – making coffee, breakfast for kids, more coffee, lunches, dinner – cookies, coffee….you see how this goes – and I think it will be the place I am most likely to see and practice these verses.

What do you think?  Want to join me?

  1. Every time you go by the verse (or if you are in the kitchen for awhile, then every so often), read the verse. It’s the same idea as when we were children and heard the pledge every morning – eventually it was memorized without realizing it.

    • Sorry, the tone it used was incorrect. We are sick here with an aweful cold. I meant it as a suggestion. It’s 9 am but I think it’s nap time.

      • Nope, not a bad tone at all – definitely my plan in having it the kitchen. Allen added his own challenge last night and wanted me to erase a couple of the words and quiz him on it. 🙂 I knew this could be fun.
